The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a yet-to-be-identified man who was reportedly shot dead by gunmen along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway.
According to sources near the scene, the victim was trailed and attacked by gunmen driving a Toyota Sienna vehicle along the busy expressway. Eyewitnesses, who spoke anonymously, said the victim was shot in the stomach and left for dead.

The Anambra State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.
“A spot observation by the Police responding team and reports from eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that the victim was shot in the stomach,” Ikenga said.
He further explained that the Police operatives attached to the Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call in the early hours of January 23, 2025.
“The body of a yet-to-be-identified young man was recovered along the Onitsha-Owerri Express Road. The command hereby seeks assistance from members of the public for possible identification of the victim and information that will facilitate the ongoing investigation,” Ikenga added.
